Visiting distant planets through your browser

International Space Station (ISS)

Cosmonium is an open-source platform that allows you to travel through space – virtually, of course.

The first step is to install the app; the first time you launch it, you see the Earth, but you can move the mouse left and right and use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out. There’s also a clever way to rotate the image: hold down the right mouse button and move the mouse!

Depending on the time of day, Cosmonium shows you which parts of the Earth are day and which parts are night. But Earth is only the first step because Cosmonium also lets you visit other planets and even the International Space Station (ISS)!

There are also a series of shortcuts to help you use the software, listed in the Help/User Guide.
